Vets in Mind is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jason Spendelow to its Board of Trustees. Dr. Spendelow brings nearly two decades of expertise in clinical psychology, with a distinguished career spanning public, private, and charitable sectors across multiple countries. His extensive background in adult mental health, workplace performance, and wellbeing makes him an invaluable addition to the leadership team at the UK charity, Vets in Mind.

Since beginning his clinical psychology career in 2005, Dr. Spendelow has employed a range of evidence-based psychological strategies in his work with individuals and organizations. He has remained research-active throughout his career, publishing studies in leading international peer-reviewed journals. His academic contributions have included several appointments, and he currently serves as Professor of Clinical Psychology and Professional Practice at Keele and Harper Adams Universities in the UK.

In his current role, Dr. Spendelow has been actively involved in the veterinary sector, applying his expertise in workplace performance and wellbeing. He has made significant contributions to the training curriculum at the Harper and Keele Veterinary School and developed the Psychologically Healthy Organisations model, which has been widely adopted by veterinary practices and companies. His appointment to the Board of Trustees reflects Vets in Mind’s commitment to expanding its reach and impact in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of veterinary professionals worldwide.

Vets in Mind is dedicated to providing essential mental health resources and support to veterinary professionals. The organization’s initiatives include:

  • Triage Tools: Online self-assessment tools for anxiety, burnout, depression, stress, and suicidal thoughts, ensuring anonymity while helping individuals identify their mental health status. These tools guide users to appropriate support and resources.
  • Development of Additional Resources: The organization continuously works on expanding its range of tools and partnerships to support the veterinary community’s mental health needs.
