Combating your attitude towards stress
Record your current self-beliefs and attitudes towards stress.
Prompting questions may include:
What does stress represent in your own life?
What does the experience of stress say about you as a person?
How do you think other people perceive you when you are in a state of stress?
Next, ask yourself whether each thought helps or hinders long-term effective stress management.
For counterproductive thoughts, ask yourself ‘What would be a more helpful version of this thought?’ and/or ‘What could be another way to view this situation?’.
Take the three most useful statements and keep a record of them. Consider this as your ‘healthy stress mindset’ to refer to whenever required.
